Processing Paper Coupons
ProLogic has two coupon processing facilities, each of which has been in operation for more than 20 years. Both plants have 40,000 sq. ft of operating space and employ 700-900 operators, giving ProLogic a total capacity to process two billion coupons per year. The plants have virtually identical processes so that ProLogic can balance the coupon volume equally between the two facilities.
In the paper coupon process, manufacturers create coupon offers which are distributed to consumers by coupon publishers using media such as Sunday newspaper free-standing inserts (FSIs). Consumers redeem paper coupons at retailers, which send coupons in bulk to clearinghouses such as ProLogic.
ProLogic scans and sorts the coupons by manufacturer, and ships the sorted coupons to the manufacturer’s agent. Along with the coupons, ProLogic includes an invoice to the manufacturer for the face value of the coupons along with shipping and handling fees.
