CIC RELEASES PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT AND POINT-OF-SALE FILE TO BLOCK COUNTERFEIT GATORADE COUPON
The Coupon Information Corporation (CIC) released a Public Service Announcement earlier this month regarding a counterfeit Gatorade coupon in circulation. The PSA included barcode information that retailers can enter into their POS systems to detect the counterfeit coupon and prevent its acceptance at the point of sale.
Retailers who did not receive the information from the CIC can contact us for this file information.

RETAILERS UPDATE COUPON REDEMPTION POLICIES TO ADDRESS "EXTREME COUPONING" RISKS
A number of retailers have updated their coupon policies or instituted new policies in response to industry news about "extreme couponers" who threaten to disrupt retailers' operations by tying up checkout lines and clearing store shelves. Last month, Publix Super Markets instituted a formal coupon policy that sets limits around the quantity of any one item purchased and provides clarity on which competitor's coupons the stores will accept.
An Advertising Age article indicated that Target, Rite Aid and Walgreens all had clarified their policies around coupon redemption, particularly in regards to the use of multiple coupons and quantities purchased. ProLogic recommends that retailers publish formal coupon policies and educate store managers and cashiers in order to control potential "extreme" coupon redemption in their stores.
