PROLOGIC ROLLS OUT NEW ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SYSTEM
ProLogic this month is introducing a new accounts receivable system which delivers improved accuracy, reliability and financial controls. The new system has a full-featured reporting capability which can be accessed through the ProLogicNET reporting portal. Using the new reporting system, ProLogic customers can get up-to-date information about their coupon A/R and shipments.
Over two years in development, the new system is an open architecture based on the Microsoft Dynamics accounting package. It has been extensively tuned to serve our customers. This robust system provides the flexibility to handle large retail chains, wholesalers, state associations and independent grocers.

GS1 Databar: What Does it Mean for Retailers? |
UPDATED GS1 DATABAR WHITEPAPER NOW AVAILABLE
By the second quarter of 2012, most coupons will carry only the GS1 DataBar barcode without the accompanying UPC-A barcode. The transition to GS1 DataBar-only coupons was to be completed in 2011, but some manufacturers have continued to print both barcodes to give retailers more time to upgrade their scanning systems to support GS1 DataBar. According to the Joint Industry Coupon Committee, some 90% of grocery retailers are now ready to scan coupons printed with only the GS1 DataBar barcode.
To provide retailers and wholesalers with more information about the new GS1 DataBar barcode, ProLogic has updated our free white paper: GS1 DataBar: What Does It Mean for Retailers? The white paper includes background on the new GS1 DataBar barcode, its benefits to the industry, and the transition timeline through 2012. Download the white paper now.

P&G, Mobeam Partner on Mobile Coupon Scanning Technology |
P&G, MOBEAM PARTNER ON MOBILE COUPON SCANNING TECHNOLOGY
One of the more interesting new technologies in the coupon industry is a scannable mobile coupon system being developed by Mobeam in cooperation with Proctor & Gamble. The new technology will enable POS scanners to read a coupon barcode from a mobile phone screen.
Mobeam will add enhancements to future smartphones to enable commonly-used retail scanners to read coupon barcodes from smartphone screens. According to Mobeam, this will allow consumers to more easily redeem digital coupons at the point of sale. Retailers can more quickly adopt mobile coupons without POS hardware changes, since existing POS scanners will be able to read the barcodes directly from the phone screens. Others say that since Mobeam must be integrated into the cell phone during manufacturing, these benefits won't show up for years to come. Mobeam expects to begin field testing with retailers in 2012.
